As someone who lived in Huangdu for so many years, I watched this area develop bit by bit… I didn’t expect the construction of the Anting International Automobile City to be so impressive. A large area including Anting New Town, the Crowne Plaza, a golf course, golf villas, the Shanghai Auto Exhibition Center, the Auto Museum, and the Auto Expo Park lies right between Anting and Huangdu. It’s roughly 2km from both Anting Metro Station and Tongji University’s Jiading Campus. The area is quite expansive, with not much traffic on the roads and no tall buildings visible in the distance—it really doesn’t feel like you’re in Shanghai.
First, a brief word about the hotel. I thought that given its remote location and the fact that it was the May Day holiday, there would be very few guests. Surprisingly, the occupancy rate was quite high. Moreover, this turned out to be a family-friendly hotel; even the restaurant has a dedicated play area for children, and kids were running around everywhere in the lounge. I heard that their Club Lounge benefits include children, which is pretty intense.
There is a free shuttle bus from the hotel to Jiating Hui at Anting Metro Station. The frequency is quite good, with roughly one departure per hour, and the ride takes only about 10 minutes.
nThe hotel interior is massive. Whether walking to the parking lot or the gym, it feels like a long trek. The only exception is the restaurant, which is very close—just outside the elevator on the ground floor. The lobby is filled with a mix of real and artificial plants~~~
Because the hotel covers such a large area, the interior feels incredibly spacious and empty, with many areas completely devoid of people…
There isn’t much to say about the room, except that it’s quite spacious. There is a 5-port USB charger by the bed, which is very convenient. The bed is a spectacular 2.4m wide setup made by joining two 1.2m beds… The bathroom and other facilities are also very large. The toiletries are Borghese, standard for the Crowne Plaza Club Floor.
Right outside the hotel are the golf villas and the golf course.
The Auto Museum closes at 4:30 PM—a very bureaucratic schedule~~~
My first impression of the Auto Expo Park was just how big it is. The data confirms this, with an area of about 770,000 square meters, though surprisingly, Tongji University’s Jiading Campus covers 1.67 million square meters…
Tents are scattered throughout the park, along with plenty of cyclists. With no tall buildings in the distance and pleasant temperatures this time of year, taking a stroll inside is quite comfortable. I’ve heard this is a favorite weekend leisure spot for locals living in Anting~~~ Of course, there aren’t many other places to go anyway…
