With nice weather and fewer crowds on Sunday, I took the opportunity to grab this 10-18mm ultra-wide-angle lens and head out for some photography.
I have to say that ultra-wide lenses perform exceptionally well whether shooting interiors or architecture. Especially in post-processing, distortion can be minimized significantly while still retaining that awe-inspiring sense of encompassing everything within the frame. The 10mm focal length on an APS-C sensor is equivalent to 15mm; the iPhone’s 0.5x ultra-wide angle is roughly equivalent to 13mm, so they’re fairly comparable. However, in terms of resolution and color reproduction, mirrorless cameras are naturally far superior to smartphones, given their significantly larger sensors.
Starting from Nonagon near the Bund Origin, I walked along the Bund all the way to East Nanjing Road, then made my way back. The weather was lovely with a slight haze. Due to the pandemic, there were very few people on the Bund—tourists were a rare sight—and business at restaurants and cafes was extremely poor, with most places virtually empty.
Tube Station has opened a new location on the 4th floor of TX Huaihai, a newly opened mall on Huaihai Road. The ground floor of this mall is almost entirely filled with coffee shops and bubble tea stores, while the upper floors mainly feature trendy fashion brands and dining options, with numerous art installations throughout the public areas. Tube Station is a New York-style pizza restaurant originally established in Beijing in 1999. Their signature item is a pizza called “The Trash Can,” which is loaded with every topping imaginable. Flavor-wise, it’s somewhat reminiscent of Pizza Hut’s classic Supreme pizza—and quite tasty too… What sets their pizzas apart is their size—they boast the largest pizzas in Beijing. This particular item comes in only two sizes: 19-inch and 24-inch. Even the 19-inch version is enormous; two people could barely finish half of one… Additionally, to celebrate the new store opening, they’re currently running a promotion on their official WeChat account where you can claim vouchers offering ¥50 off purchases over ¥100. Each person can collect up to 10 vouchers, and they can even be stacked together, making it an incredibly good deal.
