Fuquan Mountain
The best thing about Dongqian Lake is that it has both mountains and water. Fuquan Mountain is a very niche attraction. Navigate to the scenic area parking lot, where there is a small ticket booth that also serves as a rest area. After buying a ticket, you can take a minibus up the mountain. The bus runs every 15 minutes, but due to very few visitors, it departs 15 minutes after the first group arrives. So if you’re unlucky and happen to arrive when there are no other visitors, you’ll have to wait 15 minutes after purchasing your ticket. The bus then waits on the mountain for about an hour before heading back down, so your time at the summit is relatively limited. There are mainly two things to do on the mountain: drink tea/buy tea leaves, and climb up for panoramic views.
As for the climb, there are steps all the way up. The path is easy to walk and gentle rather than steep, leading all the way to Wutai Peak at an altitude of 512 meters. There is a large rock inscribed with “Blessings as Vast as the East Sea,” and from this spot, you can see both Dongqian Lake and the East China Sea. The vegetation at the summit consists primarily of tea bushes, making for a beautiful landscape.
But honestly, 50 yuan for admission plus transportation is indeed a bit pricey.
Taolu District
Taolu District is located in Jianshe Village on the shores of Ningbo’s Dongqian Lake. It serves not only as the gateway to Taogong Mountain but also as the core area of the Dongqian Lake Tourist Resort. Situated right next to Park Hyatt Ningbo and the Academician Center, it is very convenient to reach by car, with parking available across the river. This district officially opened on November 2, 2024, making it a brand-new trendy hotspot.
The entire village is managed uniformly by a professional team. It previously gained viral fame for boasting a Starbucks opened in a rural village—though calling this place a “village” is admittedly a bit of a stretch…
Overall, however, both tenant selection and operations are of a high standard. It’s highly explorable, offers excellent food and beverages, and features plenty of photogenic spots perfect for social media check-ins. If you happen to be nearby, stopping by for a meal or a coffee is definitely a great choice.
