Shazhou Youhuang is a Huangjiu (yellow wine) brand from Zhangjiagang. It is both a “China Well-Known Trademark” and a “Time-Honored Brand of China,” but I didn’t expect them to build a cultural park. It serves as a showcase of their corporate culture and also provides a great leisure and entertainment destination for local residents.
Located in Houcheng, Zhangjiagang, the Cultural Park covers an area of 83 mu with a new construction area of 25,000 square meters. Built upon traditional Jiangnan architectural elements featuring white walls, gray tiles, small bridges, and flowing water, it is an exquisite park that blends Republic of China-era and New Chinese architectural styles. The entire park is vast; although it is only a AAA-level tourist attraction, its design and construction are excellent, and it is very well managed. Not only does it offer various Instagram-worthy spots, but it also features the Shazhou Youhuang Museum, a Huangjiu Town, an aged wine cellar, a manual brewing workshop with an annual output of 3,500 tons, a water stage, a noodle restaurant, and a café. Located right next to their factory, this cultural park truly takes industrial tourism to a new level.
Admission to the park overall is free, and parking is also free, making it perfect for a stopover during a self-driving trip. Some attractions inside require tickets, but they feel well worth the price, including the Shazhou Youhuang Museum, the manual brewing workshop, the aged wine cellar, and the underground wine vault—you even get a Huangjiu popsicle!~~
