In Northeast China, the significance of the Winter Agricultural Expo lies in… when the outdoor environment looks like this:

At a time like this, being able to see so many green plants… is already quite an achievement… Still at the Agricultural Expo Park, inside a massive building there are several independent zones. One is for aquatic products, mainly featuring specimens, which is rather boring. Another sells regional specialties from various places, but since we have Taobao now, it’s not very interesting either. There’s also a flower section, and the rest is basically planted with all kinds of vegetables—eggplants, tomatoes, celery, bitter melons, etc.—all available for picking~ However, since I visited near the closing of the expo, there were hardly any ripe fruits left… The beautiful flowers had all been bought by others too~~~
Additionally, there are 5 greenhouses outside: the World Agricultural Style Garden, Southern Fruit Tree Garden, Pineapple Flower Garden, Creative Agriculture Garden, and Desert Botanical Garden. Of these, only the Desert Botanical Garden is relatively interesting, featuring various succulents as well as cacti and barrel cacti~~~
There are also some snow sculptures along the roads outside, but due to recent higher temperatures, some have already melted…~~
Overall, the Changchun Agricultural Expo is held every year. What makes the winter edition more appealing than the summer one is the contrast between the ice-and-snow-covered outdoors and the blooming flowers indoors, plus the fact that there really aren’t many other places to go in winter… However, this year ticket prices have risen from 10 yuan to 20 yuan, and picking fees are also quite high. Buying a couple of potted flowers to take home isn’t a bad idea though…
