MH Coffee
This is probably the coffee shop with the best hardware in all of Changchun right now, and they didn’t just spend money on the decor—they made no compromises on the coffee either, using all top-tier equipment. It’s located by the Yitong River, on Jilin Avenue, next to Changchun Bridge; you’re there as soon as you cross the bridge. Parking isn’t convenient, and it takes about a 10-minute walk from the subway. But the view is truly unbeatable—greenery everywhere outside the window, and a very large outdoor area. The design and spatial layout are full of premium vibes. Instead of a TV, they used an LED screen, and surprisingly, there’s a 2L diptyque reed diffuser at the entrance, plus OCD-style cable routing on the ceiling.
There’s a separate brewing room. They offer specialty drinks, pour-over, and espresso, and the quality is pretty good.
The bar counter is really clean and comfortable.
Yulu Coffee
This is a shop opened by a barista I met before, located inside Nanhu Xincun. This area doesn’t have much foot traffic these days, and there aren’t many shops or people around, but fortunately parking is easy. This shop specializes in signature drinks, and also serves traditional espresso-based coffee. There are some ceramics and accessories for sale inside, and the barista handles everything alone.
Overall, the decor is quite distinctive, and the barista’s skills are solid—it counts as a hidden gem. If you like specialty drinks, come give it a try, but arrive early, as they might run out later. The shop is on the first floor of a residential building, so the location isn’t easy to find. The sign isn’t very noticeable—you can only see it when you’re right at the door, and it’s completely invisible from the street.
33 Coffeelab
Of course, I can’t forget my favorite, 33. No need for a special introduction to 33—it’s been open for 8 years and was once what I considered the best coffee shop in Changchun. Both the coffee and cakes are very satisfying. If visitors from out of town happen to be checking out Guilin Road, they can stop by and give it a try.
