As a very long-established Western restaurant in Shanghai, T8 has been open in Xintiandi for over ten years. Both the ambiance and the dishes remain satisfying, but the service basically doesn’t live up to its prices.
nThe pre-meal bread was baked quite well.
Soup of the day: nothing special, nothing wrong.
Fresh tuna with sesame, pickled radish slices, soy sauce jelly, and cuttlefish. Only the outer edge of the tuna was lightly seared; it was very tender and slightly salty. The soy sauce jelly was definitely the highlight…
New Zealand beef tenderloin: good meat quality and generous portion size.
Norwegian salmon: mmm, very delicious.
Diced fruit, raspberry sorbet, and berry soup: sweet and sour, tastes great.
Coconut panna cotta: this was much better than expected… The texture of the panna cotta was really nice, and it wasn’t too sweet…
Olive oil, sea salt, and black pepper
Restaurant Ambiance
Overall, the food at this restaurant is worth its price, especially the ENJOY set menu or the weekday lunch set menu, which are very attractively priced. However, since the restaurant has been around for so long and gained fame, the service just can’t keep up…
