The InterContinental Shanghai Puxi has weathered its share of ups and downs, having gone through a period of losing and then regaining its star rating…
Since being re-rated, the service has improved significantly compared to before~~~~
The owner is Baokuang, which is extremely wealthy; the entire complex consists of three buildings situated between the railway station and Suzhou Creek:
a Baokuang office building, the main hotel tower, and the hotel’s executive wing.
The hotel opened in 2009, roughly around the same time as the InterContinental Shanghai Expo.
The facilities were top-notch at the time, featuring motorized curtains, a capsule coffee machine, a TOTO smart toilet, and a mirror-embedded TV~~~
One slight disappointment is that the TV only offers a VGA input rather than HDMI, which feels like a waste for such a large screen.
The front desk staff had a great attitude and were very efficient. They gifted me a small ornament from Qinglan Gongshe,
which retails for about 100 RMB—probably the most valuable Ambassador welcome gift I’ve ever received during an IC stay…
A welcome letter, fruit, and a bottle of Perrier were already set up in the room~~~~
Upon checkout, they gave me three handmade chocolates~~ which tasted pretty good~~~
Room with a view on the top floor (31st floor), overlooking the railway station

If I hadn’t found the remote control in the drawer, I never would have guessed there was a hidden TV here…

The lobby decor is incredibly opulent~~~~
