Taking my dad on a trip—he’s already 67 this year, and if we don’t get out and explore now, he might not be able to travel much longer~~
So I happened to take advantage of the InterContinental “Buy 8 Get 4 Free” promotion, redeeming 2 nights in Sanya and 2 nights in Xiamen,
plus booking a few nights in Shanghai at a 40% weekend discount. Flights were super cheap too, so the trip came together just like that.
The main purpose of the trip was to take my dad to see the ocean, focusing mostly on a relaxing vacation—8 days and 7 nights in total.
Let’s start with day one: Spring Airlines was quite unreliable and delayed our flight; we were supposed to arrive at noon but ended up arriving in the evening instead.
We grabbed a quick dinner at the airport and headed back to the hotel to rest…..
As the first five-star hotel in Pudong, Shanghai, Jin Jiang Tower InterContinental has been around for quite some time.
It opened in 1996 and was renovated in 2008—even by 2008 standards, it can’t exactly be called new,
but the service is still excellent. We were upgraded to a 68 sqm pseudo-suite, which was quite generous.
Welcome fruit, welcome gifts, daily morning newspapers, turndown service with ice, and a complimentary bottle of Evian—
they had all the essentials covered. The front desk was very efficient too. The only downside was that the heating wasn’t great, so the room felt a bit chilly.
Breakfast was excellent in quality with a wide variety of options~~~
This room was created by combining two original rooms into one, featuring a rotating TV in the middle.
One of the bathrooms was converted into a walk-in closet—you can imagine that without the upgrade, the standard rooms are probably quite small.
We stayed at this same hotel on our last day as well. The room was identical in every way, and there was a banquet being held in the atrium:
