K11 is a high-end shopping mall under Hong Kong’s New World Development, but its main draw is actually the art installations scattered throughout the store and its unique decor style. Naturally, this shopping mall attached to the New World Tower in Hong Kong was transformed into K11…
Actually, before Shanghai, K11 had already entered mainland China in Wuhan and Beijing, but not as shopping malls; they served more as concept showcases. Personally, I feel like New World Development Group is simply making full use of its own land… The Shanghai location is the first actual shopping mall opened on the mainland.
As for the brands, the retail section features many big names like Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Chloe, etc., though some are still under renovation. The two basement levels, however, have quite a few clothing stores from Hong Kong that look pretty good, mostly focusing on women’s fashion.
It’s also rare to find a mall where almost all the restaurants are rated five stars on review platforms, meaning you can walk into any of them and likely won’t be disappointed. This includes Element Fresh, Pizza Marzano, Celeb de Tomato, Gatten Sushi, Hung Hing Wui, and The Farm, among others. The only downside is the parking lot, which is inconveniently located on the 6th floor and requires driving up a long spiral ramp… very inconvenient.
Outside The Farm on the third floor, there is a lush green area planted with various vegetables and mushrooms.
For dinner, I had my favorite Element Fresh Big Salad. Speaking of which, Element Fresh has expanded so quickly in Shanghai over the past few years—growing from just 3 locations when I first got my membership card to 12 now. There are even 3 branches within a small radius around Xintiandi, and soon another one will open at Yuexing Global Harbor right near my home~~~~ making it even more convenient. It’s truly impressive that they can maintain consistent ingredient quality and taste across so many locations.
