After lunch, I had planned to wait for the rain to stop, but since it kept pouring, I decided to head out for a stroll. Fortunately, the rain let up as I walked along. In Tianzifang, I came across a shop whose owner is from Changchun; he was very friendly, and there was even a potted Clivia in the store. Stepping into each shop in Tianzifang feels like entering an entirely different city: Origin feels like being in the United States, Lotus feels like India, while some handicraft and creative shops evoke the atmosphere of Xitang. Experiencing such contrasting vibes within typical old Shanghai architecture left me feeling somewhat transported.
After lunch, it’s still raining. We took a walk in Tianzifang. Each store in it has a different style; it even makes me unsure whether I am still in Shanghai. Origin is like being in the US, Lotus is like being in India, and some small handicraft stores are like being in Xitang. That’s awesome—totally different experiences within typical Shanghai buildings.
