Continuing from the previous post, since every room in the hotel is quite different, this article focuses on Room 151 where we stayed this time. This is a street-facing room. The downside of facing the street is that electric scooters drive back and forth outside, so it’s not particularly quiet, but it didn’t affect our sleep. On the other hand, water-facing rooms are very quiet, but they come at a higher price. From the outside, this looks like a standalone house, resembling an old traditional residence:
Unlocking the super classic door lock and stepping inside, the first thing you see is the foyer. On the desk, there are books about Lu Xun and Shaoxing, as well as a room service menu. I really liked the umbrella stand next to the desk…
Then, behind the curtain lies the bedroom:
From another angle: There is a 42-inch LG TV, and for English channels, only CNN is available…
Inside the cabinet, there are hangers, a safe, an ironing board, slippers, pajamas, and shoe shine cloths~~ On the other side, there is a coffee table and several seats, with two hotel magazines and a photo album of the Kaiyuan Team’s Tour de France journey:
Hidden within this antique-style cabinet is the minibar. The fridge contains various drinks and Ferrero Rocher chocolates. The cabinet also holds various cups, nuts, biscuits, red wine, coffee, and tea, all at reasonable prices..
The bathroom is very spacious, and all sanitary ware is KOHLER brand.
Opposite the sink is the bathtub:
Next to it is the shower room, and opposite is the toilet:
Disposable amenities are placed in a small wooden box next to the sink:
It is worth mentioning the Kaiyuan Group’s “Return to Wood” initiative. All disposable amenities are made entirely from biodegradable eco-friendly materials. Packaging uses stone paper printed with soybean ink, while items like toothbrush handles and combs are made from corn fiber….
Moreover, they printed different slogans on each product, showing the hotel’s thoughtfulness:
Laundry detergent says “Green of Returning to Wood,” sewing kit says “Emerald of Returning to Wood,” shower cap says “Verdant of Returning to Wood,” care kit says “Azure of Returning to Wood,”
body lotion says “Moisture of Returning to Wood,” dental kit says “Source of Returning to Wood,” comb says “Wish of Returning to Wood,” shaving foam says “Destiny of Returning to Wood,”
shampoo says “Lushness of Returning to Wood,” conditioner says “Sprout of Returning to Wood,” and shower gel says “Luxuriance of Returning to Wood.”
There are several very user-friendly touches:
On the bedside table, there is a note indicating tomorrow’s weather and temperature. All disposable items feature easy-open packaging, making them very convenient to access. Many things are customized—not just furniture and disposables, but even Nongfu Spring water bottles. Apparently, the original Yu the Great Mausoleum tickets were too plain, so the hotel redesigned the vouchers…
Finally, there is the large key used for power activation; actually, the small key hanging there is the real room key…
To summarize:
Since the hotel is located in a rather remote area, I wouldn’t recommend going out at night. Wandering around the hotel grounds is nice enough, mainly because it’s hard to hail a taxi. If you call for one, unlike in Shanghai where you just add a 4 yuan dispatch fee… here the meter starts running from the moment the driver heads to the hotel…. So you have no idea where the driver is coming from, making it quite unreliable. However, Shaoxing isn’t that big anyway, so if you’re driving, it’s much more convenient… It doesn’t take long to get anywhere…
Service was excellent. Aside from the front desk being a bit busy, the electric shuttle carts were very convenient, and the staff had great attitudes. Actually, walking around isn’t far at all, and the scenery is lovely. If you’re too lazy to walk, you can just call for a cart pickup. There are very few people inside the hotel; mostly you just see staff members. Guests are rarely seen, and often you won’t see anyone at all.
The room is huge, and the bed is soft without sinking in too much, allowing me to sleep very comfortably. Both the hot water and air conditioning are independent systems and work quite well; the AC doesn’t turn off when you leave the room either.
The price is very reasonable. Considering the cost of meals for two and two tickets to Yu the Great Mausoleum are included, the actual room rate comes to less than 500 yuan….
If this price remains available, I will definitely return in the future~~~~~~~
