InterContinental Changchun High-Tech

Changchun finally got its first InterContinental hotel in 2025. It feels like they’ve been talking about opening an InterContinental here for years. It’s located next to Jilin University, but currently, the location is quite inconvenient. There’s virtually no public transportation, and the nearest subway station is 1.5 km away. The surrounding area is mostly large construction sites with little commercial activity; it can’t compare to the Hyatt at all. However, the commercial complex diagonally across the street seems nearly complete, and the Yan Ji You signage is already up.

The hotel has 250 guest rooms and was designed by CCD from Hong Kong. Overall, it looks quite nice, and the construction quality is good. As for the owner, the name makes it obvious—it’s Changchun High-Tech. They’ve clearly invested heavily, aiming to create the hotel with the best physical facilities in Changchun, and so far, they’ve certainly achieved that. I wonder if there are any plans to open a hotel above the MixC mall.

Although the rooms are advertised as 40 square meters, they don’t actually feel that spacious. Standard amenities include electric curtains, a capsule coffee machine, and a smart toilet. Executive rooms and suites come equipped with Dyson hair dryers. There isn’t much of a view from the window—high floors and low floors are pretty much the same, with nothing but massive construction sites outside…

The design of the public areas is quite attractive.

Elevator lobby

Chinese Restaurant

Corridor

The lobby features high ceilings and a clean, grand atmosphere.

The fitness center is also quite good and fully adequate.

Lobby Lounge

The dining options are also quite distinctive. The Executive Lounge Happy Hour offers plenty of hearty dishes—enough to fill you up—and breakfast is very sumptuous, even featuring highly local specialties like glutinous rice sticks, sugar-dressed tomatoes, stewed pork ribs with pickled cabbage, and chicken soup tofu skewers. I had a set menu at the Chinese restaurant, and the flavors were excellent—better than what the Hyatt offers. Highly recommended.
