The main purpose of this trip to Chengdu was to attend my classmate Xiang Chao’s wedding. Of course, since I traveled so far, I had to do some sightseeing along the way~~~
For accommodation, I chose the only InterContinental hotel in Chengdu at the time, the Century City Paradise InterContinental Hotel. Since there are quite a lot of photos, I’ve split them into two posts.
The hotel is located in a rather remote area beyond the South Fourth Ring Road. Fortunately, there is a subway station nearby, though it is surrounded by all sorts of bizarre buildings…
The southern part of Chengdu used to be mostly wasteland, but now it’s filled with one newly built modern structure after another.
However, I have to say that these various oddly shaped buildings in Chengdu are really quite ugly….
The exterior of the hotel isn’t particularly special; as a 30-story building, it doesn’t stand out much against the backdrop of the adjacent Radio and Television Building.
But stepping inside reveals a massive lobby—a four-story-high atrium that looks truly spectacular.
With its lush greenery, water features, pavilions, and huge drapes hanging from the ceiling adorned with calligraphy, being immersed in such an atmosphere makes enjoying a buffet here a great choice.

The café is surrounded on three sides by teahouses; drinking tea is indeed one of the great pastimes of the Sichuan people.
The teahouse is on the second floor, while the reception desk is located here on the right side of the first floor:

The reception staff were quite efficient. Since I had booked in advance, my room was already prepared, so check-in was quick and I headed upstairs shortly after.
There’s a myna bird at the front desk that keeps saying “Hello” and “Ni Hao” non-stop. Passing by this huge bouquet of lilies, you arrive at the elevator hall.

The漱口 cups are very nice, and the toiletries are all L’Occitane—I really love their soap…
When I returned from dinner, turndown service had already been done, and a small gift was left~~
During my 2-night stay, I was overall very satisfied: excellent service, spacious rooms, high floors, fast Wi-Fi, beautiful lobby, and powerful air conditioning.
The only downsides were the average gym equipment, the mediocre view outside the window…, and the somewhat inconvenient transportation.
