Hotel Indigo Anji

After the Spring Festival this year, I took a trip to Anji—my first visit to the area—and chose to stay at Hotel Indigo Anji. This hotel typically commands high rates on regular days, making it one of the most expensive Hotel Indigo properties in China. I opted to visit during the Spring Festival when prices were relatively lower. Although the vegetation wasn’t as lush as in summer, surprisingly, even in winter, the overall landscape of Anji remained green.

The hotel was designed by P49 DEESIGN, a Thai design firm renowned for resort projects. The overall style is quite modern, incorporating bamboo elements throughout. The facilities are excellent, featuring electric curtains, smart toilets, and Bluetooth speakers. The mattress was very comfortable, ensuring a high quality of sleep. Remarkably, the room uses a curved bamboo surface as a partition and includes a balcony overlooking the hotel’s infinity pool—though it wasn’t of much use in winter. The bathroom decor is also modern and equipped with a Dyson hair dryer, but it only features a single sink.

Since it was the Year of the Dragon Spring Festival period, both the hotel entrance and lobby were adorned with festive decorations and dragon motifs. The service was standard for the Indigo brand: generally not very proactive, with no turndown service provided. Breakfast reflected the characteristics of a resort hotel, running until noon; while the variety and taste were just average, the ambiance and service were quite pleasant.

There is an Instagram-worthy bar inside the hotel called Shire Bar, featuring a cave-inspired design. Singers perform there on weekends, but unfortunately, there was no live music during our visit. Instead, the screen was broadcasting the Spring Festival Gala while pop songs played through the speakers—a rather surreal combination. The cocktails were distinctive and tasty, though slightly pricey.
