Changbaishan Wanda International Resort is a resort developed with a leading investment of 23 billion yuan by the Wanda Group. The entire area is vast, with mountains at the back and a lake in front. It features six 5-star hotels, two budget hotels, a Hallasan Hot Spring Resort, as well as commercial and villa districts.
nThe peak seasons are June to August for summer retreats and November to March for skiing. Having absolutely no interest in Northeast China’s winter, I avoided the peak season and visited in autumn to experience it~~~~ During the off-season, there aren’t many people in the resort, hotel occupancy is low, and some restaurants are closed.
If you stay here, you can receive a pass that includes shuttle buses to the West Slope of Changbai Mountain and Songjianghe Town, a golf experience, and round-trip cable car rides up the back mountain.
I’ll cover the various hotels in my next blog post; this one will focus on the rest. The commercial district includes national chains like KFC, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, Huang Ji Huang, Watson’s, Dezhuang Hotpot, and Hallasan BBQ, as well as local chains like Wangji Sauce Bones and Fengmao Skewer City. There are also plenty of other dining options such as Halal hotpot, teppanyaki, bars, spicy pot, and grilled fish. Combined with the restaurants inside each hotel, finding something to eat in this little town is definitely not an issue.
The security guards and service staff in the town are mostly local villagers, so expectations for service quality shouldn’t be too high. Remember to double-check your order when ordering food. However, hotel front desk staff, concierges, and supervisors are certainly brought in from outside and are quite good.
The commercial district also features standard Wanda amenities: Wanda Cinema, Big Player Arcade, and Big Star KTV. Wanda Cinema is pretty nice, and you can get 50% off tickets by purchasing them via the official website or app.
There is also a Grand Theater, which is said to be decent, and a Shaman Culture Museum, which is reportedly quite poor.. There are also several shops selling local specialties, a few outdoor clothing stores, and in winter, some ski-related shops.
In the back is the villa district for sale, which is very large and called Forest Mansion.

There is a lake in front called Fokulun Lake. It’s basically deserted, but the scenery is quite nice~

You can take the cable car up the back mountain. It’s primarily used for skiing, so in summer, it’s mainly just for viewing the scenery below.
The ski resort was meticulously designed by Ecosign, the same team behind Olympic Winter Games venues, featuring 43 ski trails of various types with a total length of 30 kilometers.
