Xuhui Riverside is truly a wonderful place. Its biggest drawback is the lack of commercial development, but this is actually a blessing in disguise, as it keeps the crowds away. Of course, this also means it’s not very convenient—for example, even buying a bottle of water can be difficult. In the entire riverside area, there are only three establishments: a small café that serves only beverages, and Meilidao Italian Restaurant. I haven’t tried either of those yet, so today I’m introducing the third one: Time Roamer, a Spanish restaurant.
I’ve passed by this place many times before and always stopped in, but only for afternoon tea. This was my first time having a proper meal here, and it was quite impressive. The quality of both the salad and the salmon was excellent, and the paella was well-prepared too. You can even order a small portion, which is very convenient for two people. The only disappointment was the chicken wings; the seasoning was acceptable, but the quality of the wings themselves was questionable…

The afternoon tea set here is also a great deal. The set for two includes a snack platter plus a pot of tea or two cups of coffee for just 68 yuan. The taste is quite good too—definitely excellent value for money.
The ambiance of this restaurant is also quite nice. The indoor space is relatively small, but since there aren’t many customers anyway, it remains fairly quiet. A few paintings hang from the ceiling as decoration.

There are plenty of outdoor seating options. During pleasant weather, sitting outside watching boats pass by on the river is an absolute delight.
In summary, the food here is excellent, and both the service and the environment are satisfying. Plus, every seat is equipped with a power outlet. With Wi-Fi, electricity, natural sunlight, air conditioning, and an unbeatable river view outside, it’s definitely worth revisiting. I’ve heard the lamb chops are also good, so I’ll have to give them a try next time~~~
Also, Xuhui Riverside is full of runners, which is really cool.
