The next day, we first went to IKEA. We used Kuaidi Dache for the round-trip taxi rides and paid via Alipay, getting a 10 yuan discount on each ride… ~~
We bought a bunch of stuff, and after having some Swedish meatballs and a 1 yuan soft serve cone, we headed to Joy City in the afternoon.
I have to say, the free lockers at Joy City are huge—they can even fit suitcases, which is really great~~~

Joy City is massive, consisting of four buildings in total. It actually opened back in 2009 but underwent renovations and reopened in 2013…
Right now, it’s in a rather peculiar transitional phase; many of the navigation maps inside are still outdated, and numerous restaurants and shops are still under renovation.
Also, there aren’t that many people around—only Zones A and C are fairly busy, while Zone B is pretty deserted…
Zone A has a MUJI store, Zone C is mostly filled with dining options, and Zone D features GAP, Xingmei Cinema, and Walmart.

For dinner, we had Tasty Steak. My impression of Tasty basically dates back to my college days.
Back then, the 98 yuan set menu featuring filet mignon was such a良心 deal in the industry…
Now rebranded as Tasty Steak, the set menu prices have long since risen to 150 yuan.
The signature steak has also switched from filet mignon to chuck roll.
Although the meat quality has dropped quite a bit, considering current price levels, it’s still relatively reasonable…
What’s rare is that many of the delicious dishes from back then have been retained, and surprisingly, they taste exactly the same~~~ I guess you could call it nostalgia.
In cases where the restaurant can’t source sufficiently high-quality ingredients, they make up for it by catering specifically to Chinese palates.
For instance, the steak isn’t particularly tender or juicy, but it’s seasoned with salt and pepper and roasted; while the texture is just average, the flavor is decent.
Of course, the ice cream and drinks still carry that strong artificial flavoring… ~~ But I suppose most people wouldn’t notice…

The ambiance is quite nice, and the service is acceptable, though the pacing of the courses was rather chaotic.
The main course and soup arrived together, but then we had to wait half an hour for dessert—we almost missed our train because of it…
