Tiger Hill in Early Winter

Although the ginkgo leaves have already fallen, the red leaves are at their peak. With the fine weather, the scenery is truly beautiful. However, Tiger Hill is rather small as a scenic spot; it can be explored in just an hour, making the 60-yuan admission fee seem a bit steep.

The Wedding Dress City at the entrance has closed down and been converted into a parking lot with ample spaces, charging 6 yuan per hour.

In 2007, the Classical Gardens of Suzhou, including Tiger Hill, were designated as a National AAAAA Tourist Attraction. In 2014, the Yunyan Temple Pagoda within the Tiger Hill Scenic Area was inscribed on the World Heritage List as part of the Grand Canal.

Tiger Hill Pagoda is the second most inclined pagoda in the world. On March 4, 1961, it was designated by the State Council as a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level. Construction began in 959 AD (the sixth year of the Xiande era of the Later Zhou dynasty during the Five Dynasties period) and was completed in 961 AD (the second year of the Jianlong era of the Song dynasty), giving it a history of over a thousand years. The pagoda has seven stories and eight sides, standing 47.7 meters tall. It leans toward the north-northeast, with its top displaced 2.34 meters from the center and a maximum inclination angle of 3 degrees and 59 minutes, earning it the nickname “China’s Leaning Tower of Pisa.” It is the oldest surviving Buddhist pagoda in the Jiangnan region, renowned for its grand scale and exquisite structure.
