Continuing from the previous post, let’s talk about the interior…
Walking into the lobby, it is very beautiful, but unlike InterContinental hotels, there is no signature scent. Actually, having no smell at all is quite nice,
at least much better than having a bad odor… The front desk staff had a great attitude~~~ very satisfying.
The Lobby Lounge offers afternoon tea in the afternoon; afternoon tea for two is only 138++, which is quite affordable.
The room type for this stay was a Lake View Room, located on the 4th floor of Zone B. The public area on the 3rd floor of Zone B is very nice,
great for reading or chatting, though the air conditioning was a bit weak. Speaking of which, this corridor feels a bit like the Jiading Campus.
The room is very spacious, the air conditioning is powerful, and the bathroom is huge. There is a sliding door that can be opened directly to connect the room and the bathtub~~
There is also a dedicated speaker in the bathroom to play TV audio, which is a very thoughtful touch~~~~
However, the amenities are average; I finally understand why L’Occitane amenities are considered top-tier…
It comes standard with 4 bottles of mineral water. Upon entering the room, I immediately stashed two in the fridge… As it turned out, this was very necessary~~
The Honeywell thermostat is excellent, and then there is the large balcony. It is massive, taking up about 1/5 of the room’s area.
There is a sofa you can lie right on, but it was too hot outside during the day and too many mosquitoes at night~~ so it felt a bit wasted…
When the balcony door is opened, the air conditioning automatically shuts off, which saves electricity…
Returned from a workout in the afternoon to find the turndown service already done~~~~
The gym is relatively small, with only 2 treadmills, 2 stationary bikes, and 1 elliptical machine,
plus two combination strength training machines and a pile of dumbbells.
However, there were actually very few people; at least while I was there, no one else was around. The staff had a great attitude,
and the equipment was very new. The treadmills allow you to watch TV and even surf the internet…
Through the glass in front of the treadmills lies the swimming pool, which was basically taken over by children, haha.
Speaking of which, there really aren’t many people here with good physiques…
Now let’s talk about food~~~~~
For Saturday dinner, the restaurants downstairs were fully booked, and the Western restaurant only offered a buffet, no à la carte..
So we decisively ordered room service: salad + burger. The taste was satisfying, and the service was good.
There were even green plants on the cute little trolley~~~~
At noon the next day, seeing fewer people around, I decided to try the Chinese restaurant, only to find it was a terrible experience…
The ambiance was decent; the ceiling was covered in shimmering fiber optics that changed colors~~~
But the service was extremely lacking. With so many servers, the service was still so poor—it’s honestly hard to believe…
Then the food came out super, super slowly. We only ordered one dish and one fried rice. The dish arrived after about 20 minutes,
but the fried rice took a full 50 minutes to arrive..
Actually, the taste of the dishes was pretty good… It’s just that by the time the main course arrived, the other dishes had gone cold.
To top it off, this “Splendid Seafood Fried Rice” turned out to be a portion meant for 10 people—so awkward…
Couldn’t they have reduced the amount of rice to make a single serving when they knew I was dining alone?…
Knowing this beforehand, I would have been better off sticking to room service…
So, my recommendation for dining at this hotel is definitely room service~~~
Oh, right, breakfast was quite impressive. Aside from being crowded,
the service was good, the variety was sufficiently rich, and the taste was acceptable~~~
They also had homemade yogurt and tea eggs~~~~
In summary, this hotel is actually wonderful. It occupies its own island exclusively and is far removed from the city.
The hotel environment is great, with countless dragonflies flying around nearby. I haven’t seen this many dragonflies since elementary school…
However, some of the outdoor facilities are damaged and haven’t been repaired… Overall, I would still visit again~~~
Lingang New City doesn’t feel like Shanghai at all; it feels like a sparsely populated small town.
Everything is wide open, and there are very few cars on the road, but the trees and such are all new and therefore quite small…
Of course, the inconvenient transportation is also a major issue… At the very least, there should be taxis available..
With everything being several kilometers away, how is one supposed to get around?…
