I took a weekend trip to Nanjing and finally stayed at this hotel I’ve been wanting to visit for a long time. It’s located in Nanjing’s tallest building—the Zifeng Tower. Transportation is very convenient; it’s right outside Exit 4A of Gulou Metro Station. However, there aren’t many dining options nearby, and not much in the way of attractions either. Across the street is the rather empty Big Bell Pavilion, along with a McDonald’s and Songhelou restaurant. There’s metro construction going on next door, and Gulou Park doesn’t have much to offer. Surprisingly, the oddly shaped building nearby turns out to be Gulou Hospital. Shiziqiao, Hunan Road, and Nanjing University are also not far away—just a short walk~~~ Plus, Gulou Station is super convenient: one metro stop to Zhujiang Road or Xuanwumen, two stops to Xinjiekou, and three stops to the train station.
nThe hotel reception is on the 1st floor, conference rooms on the 7th, gym and swimming pool on the 8th, restaurant on the 45th, lounge on the 47th, guest rooms from the 49th to 71st floors, restaurant and bar on the 76th and 78th, and the Presidential Suite on the 80th~~~ This time I stayed in an Executive Twin Room on the 70th floor. I had originally booked a twin room, but ended up traveling alone… Since all the king rooms were fully booked, I had no choice but to stay alone in a twin room~~~~ Sweat… Also, the observation deck of Zifeng Tower is on the 72nd floor, so honestly, the view isn’t much different from what you see in the room~~ The hotel must have been too busy—they turned down my bed during the daytime…
And I have to mention this about Nanjing… the view outside the window… The pollution during the day was just terrible. Except for Friday afternoon when I first arrived and the weather was decent… On Saturday and Sunday mornings, every time I woke up and opened the curtains… everything outside was covered in a white haze… And at night there was absolutely no cityscape to speak of—basically, white outside during the day and pitch black at night. On the plus side, the curtain controls are by the bedside, which is a nice design touch—you can open the curtains right after waking up without even getting out of bed~~
The hotel has one set of elevators serving floors 1–45, and another for floors above 45. For the upper-level elevators, you enter your destination floor first before being assigned an elevator car. This system offers excellent security and allocates resources more efficiently~~~
