S.E.A. Aquarium Singapore

The S.E.A. Aquarium is located right next to Universal Studios, very close by. It happened to start pouring rain at the time, so we took the opportunity to duck inside to shelter from the rain and kill about two hours. S.E.A. stands for South East Asia. This aquarium was once the largest in the world, until it was comprehensively surpassed in every aspect by Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Zhuhai in 2014…

Within its 45 million liters of man-made ocean, there are over 100,000 marine animals spanning as many as 800 species. The aquarium is divided into 10 major zones and 49 habitats, featuring fish from the Bay of Bengal, the Strait of Malacca, the Andaman Sea, and the African Great Lakes, as well as marine life from coral reef underwater worlds and cold-water regions.

That said, the aquariums in Shanghai aren’t exactly small either; the main difference lies in the vast disparity in visitor numbers. While the crowd here couldn’t be considered sparse, it certainly wasn’t overwhelming either. Since we still had attractions left to see at Universal Studios, we were in a bit of a rush and didn’t get to explore as thoroughly as we would have liked. The layout of the entire aquarium follows a single path: you walk to the farthest point—the Open Ocean zone, which features a viewing panel 36 meters wide and 8.3 meters tall—and then return via another route to complete the tour. The whole visit took just over an hour, but if you were to take your time and look closely, it would probably take around 2 to 3 hours.

I have to say, this viewing panel is truly a photographer’s paradise~~~
