Crowne Plaza Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan

This Crowne Plaza is arguably one of the few truly good hotels in Zhangjiajie. It’s located just a short distance from the Wulingyuan entrance, right next to the Charming Xiangxi Theater. You can walk to the Wulingyuan entrance, and even a taxi ride would only cost the minimum fare. The hotel’s overall architectural style is fairly modern, incorporating some elements of Tujia and Miao ethnic architecture.

Opened in 2017, the facilities are still relatively new. With over 700 rooms, it’s a large-scale property that was fully booked during the National Day holiday. The hotel is extremely generous to its members—during the National Day golden week, Platinum Elite members were directly upgraded to a 97-square-meter Deluxe Suite with full Club Lounge access included. During check-in, staff even escorted guests personally to the elevator. The standout feature of this room type is its spaciousness—the bedroom, living room, and bathroom are all exceptionally large, and the bathroom even features a round bathtub.

Additionally, the hotel offers Superior Rooms on Ctrip, located on the top floor with only small, non-opening windows. These may be reserved exclusively for tour groups and are not available through official channels, where bookings start at Deluxe Rooms.

The welcome amenity was also quite generous: a fruit platter plus red wine.

The Club Lounge is conveniently located near the room elevators—just steps away as you exit. The Happy Hour offerings consist mainly of fried snacks; while the taste is average, they’re sufficient to fill you up. The ambiance is pleasant. During breakfast hours, all elite members are directed to the Club Lounge. Overall service is attentive, and the facilities are satisfactory.

It seemed none of the hotel’s restaurants were open except for the All-Day Dining restaurant, which offered only buffet service with no à la carte options. The buffet was reasonably priced and of decent quality, but the lack of à la carte choices was somewhat inconvenient. Since all off-site restaurants are quite far away, when you’re exhausted, you simply don’t feel like venturing out to eat.

The hotel’s public areas are remarkably spacious—even during peak season when fully booked, it never feels crowded.

Overall, if you’re traveling to Wulingyuan, this hotel comes highly recommended—though realistically, there aren’t many other comparable options anyway. Booking early can secure very competitive rates, and the hotel treats its loyalty members exceptionally well.
