In early winter in Shanghai, when autumn hasn’t quite faded and winter hasn’t fully arrived, find a day with fresh air and sunshine. Under blue skies and white clouds, the golden ginkgo trees and red Japanese maples, bathed in gentle sunlight, create an enchanting atmosphere. Especially in downtown Shanghai’s Xuhui District, where historic villas coexist with expansive gardens, taking a leisurely stroll through the Culture Square and the adjacent Ruijin Hotel is incredibly pleasant. Once a symbol of Shanghai’s state-owned hospitality, the Ruijin Hotel occupies a unique enclave in the heart of Xuhui, featuring vast gardens and lawns rich with history. Now transformed into an InterContinental property, everything has been beautifully restored, making it conveniently accessible for residents to visit—haha!
